Cutting out the deteriorated brick is a process that is completed with the use of what is called a cut off saw. Which has a 16 " in diameter diamond blade that is 1/8" in thickness.
This process is completed starting at the bottom of the chimney working up to the top of the structure where needed. The chimney is washed to ensure the new mortar will properly bond throughout the re pointing process.
Through out the re pointing process of the chimney the new mortar sets very quickly, & with in minutes the chimny's mortar joints are dressed (jointed & brushed off) along with the replacement of the broken brick.
